GESTAR II researchers present at AeroCenter/CPC Meeting

In late May, the AeroCenter-Cloud Precipitation Center (AeroCenter/CPC), "an interdisciplinary union of researchers at NASA Goddard and other organizations in the Washington DC metropolitan area (including NOAA, University of Maryland, and other institutions) who are interested in many facets of atmospheric aerosols, clouds, and precipitation," held its annual meeting at the NASA Goddard Visitor Center. "Aerosol, Cloud, and Precipitation research are among the nine cross-cutting themes of the Earth Sciences Division at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center."

Jasper Lewis and Mijin Kim serve on the committee, and Charles Ichoku, GESTAR II Director, serves as Ex Officio. Many GESTAR II members gave oral or poster presentations:

Andrew Sayer (616/UMBC)  "Introducing the aerosol and cloud products from NASA's PACE mission"
Ghassan Taha (614/MSU)  "The OMPS limb profiler 3D records"
Hiren Jethva (614/MSU)  "Advancements in Characterizing Aerosols above Clouds: Quantifying Spectral Aerosol Absorption above Clouds from Airborne-Satellite and Active-Passive Synergies"
Jasper Lewis (612/UMBC)  "EarthCARE Validation using MPLNET"
Allie Collow (610.1/UMBC)  "Aersol Configurations and Preliminary Evaluations for GMAO's Newest Reanalyses"
Tianle Yuan (613/UMBC)  "Improving estimate of aerosol indirect forcing and gauging the effectiveness of marine cloud brightening with ship-tracks"
Huisheng Bian (614/UMBC)  "Observationally constrained analysis of sulfur cycle in the marine atmosphere with NASA ATom measurements and AeroCom model simulations"
Dongchul Kim (614/UMBC)  "AeroCom-DUSA experiment"
Caterina Mogno (614/UMBC)  "Assessing GEOS-CCM aerosol optical properties using in-situ observations over the CONUS region"
Sujung Go (613/UMBC)  "Climatology of Earth Atmospheric Mineral Dust Iron-Oxide Species Derived from DSCOVR EPIC Using MAIAC Algorithm"
Mijin Kim (613/MSU)  "Surface Reflectance Parameterization for Dark Target Aerosol Algorithm"
Myungje Choi (613/UMBC)  "Light-absorbing BC and BrC components of biomass burning smoke aerosol from DSCOVR EPIC measurements."
Additionally, Antonio Galindo-Zabel (UMBC undergraduate) presented "AERONET observations of smoke."

Thank you to Allie Collow for providing photos from the event.
