GESTAR II awarded two-year extension on cooperative agreement with NASA GSFC
In fall 2021, UMBC was awarded $72 million by NASA Goddard Space Flight Center to establish GESTAR II for three years. This cooperative agreement includes Morgan State University as a primary partner, as well as Penn State University, Arizona State University, Colorado State University, Southeast Universities Research Association (SURA), Earth Resources Technology, Inc. (ERT), and industry partner Northrop Grumman. GESTAR II consists of ~150 researchers throughout the earth science division at NASA GSFC. This year, NASA GSFC awarded UMBC $47 million for a two-year extension of GESTAR II, through 2026. Read more in this UMBC News feature!
