Kevin Zheng's Proposal Selected for Funding

Jianyu "Kevin" Zheng (613/UMBC) is the Principal Investigator on the proposal titled “Cloud Credits Supplement to Enable Open Sciences for MEASURES and EMIT Projects,” which has been selected for funding. The team also includes Co-I’s Hongbin Yu (613/GSFC) and Zhibo Zhang (610/UMBC), and Collaborator Jianwu Wang (UMBC). The period of performance is 10/04/24 - 9/30/25.

Dr. Zheng provided a summary of the proposal:
"The proposal aims to apply the commercial AWS cloud to prompt the open-science activities of the selected MEASURES and EMIT projects, including open sourcing the data records and algorithms. The primary goal of the MEASURES project is to create a Comprehensive and Augmented Multi-decadal Remote-sensing Observations of Dust (CAMRO-Dust) data record by integrating multiple satellites and developing novel approaches. The goal of the EMIT project is to provide a unique observation-based, spectrally-resolved clear sky SW dust DRE at the top of the atmosphere (TOA) in the desert regions based on a novel method enabled by the hyperspectral observations of the EMIT instrument."
