Arteaga-Quintero appointed to Ocean Studies Board of the NAS
Congratulations to Lionel Arteaga-Quintero (610.1/UMBC), who recently was appointed to the Ocean Studies Board of the National Academies of Science, after being nominated, interviewed, and vetted. He joins five other new appointees. "The Ocean Studies Board (OSB) is a unit of the Division on Earth and Life Studies of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. OSB explores the science, policies, and infrastructure needed to understand, manage, and conserve coastal and marine environments and resources."
As a board member, over his two-year appointment, Dr. Arteaga will attend two annual meetings as well as others, advise the academies on relevant contemporary ocean research topics, and conduct studies requested by the academies.
