Congratulations, Dr. Tokay, UMBC's 2025 Research Faculty Excellence Awardee
Congratulations to Dr. Ali Tokay (612/UMBC), Research Scientist with GESTAR II and affiliated faculty member of UMBC's Department of Geography and Environmental Systems (GES), who was selected as the recipient of UMBC's 2025 Research Faculty Excellence Award! This esteemed recognition was delivered by Provost van Dulmen and Dr. Karl Steiner (DRCA).
This award recognizes Dr. Tokay's excellence in research and his contributions to UMBC's broader mission. He will receive a financial allowance from the Office of the Provost to support his professional development during the 2025-2026 academic year.
Among other UMBC activities such as mentoring, Dr. Tokay has been teaching the course "Weather and Climate" (GES 311) since 1998. To quote Dr. Steiner, "This recognition of your long-term efforts and impact is very much deserved, and we are very proud of the important work you conduct at UMBC."
