Congratulations to Caterina Mogno on her Promotion!

Congratulations to Caterina Mogno (614/UMBC) on her promotion to Assistant Research Scientist!

We caught up with Dr. Mogno to learn more about her research and how she spends her free time:

"My research focuses on improving how we understand and model atmospheric aerosols using the NASA Goddard Earth Observing System Chemistry-Climate Model (GEOS-CCM). This work involves comparing model predictions with real-world observations from satellites, aircraft and ground-based observations, to identify where we can improve the model prediction and thus its subsequent applications. I'm particularly interested in evaluating how well our model captures aerosol behavior, since, according to the IPCC, aerosols contribute to one of the largest uncertainties in long-term climate predictions. My research also extends to analyzing aerosol trends and understanding how different emission sources and chemical processes affect atmospheric composition and air quality.

In my free time, I love practicing yoga, cooking Italian dishes, and exploring the outdoors in the US - I’ll try to make it to as many National Parks as possible!"
