Select Publications led and/or co-authored by GESTAR II Researchers

Late 2025 and early 2026 brought more publications from many of our GESTAR II researchers, focusing on a variety of earth science topics. (Note, reading goes well with being snowed in!) We invite you to peruse the following articles. 

Niama Boukachaba (618/MSU) and Noura Ed-Dahmany (618/SURA) were among the co-authors on Lahouari Bounoua's 2025 paper "Beyond the urban heat island: A global metric for urban-driven climate warming" published in Urban Science.

Additionally, Niama Boukachaba (618/MSU) was one of the co-authors on Noura Ed-Dahmany's (618/SURA) 2025 paper "Land Use and Agricultural Policy: Assessing the Green Morocco Plan's effect on cereal production" published in the journal Land.

Hiren Jethva (614/MSU), Pamela Wales (610.1/MSU), and Eli Orland (618/UMBC) were among the co-authors on Robert Field's 2025 paper "A fire‐driven shift in Canadian air quality concerns mirrors trends in the US" published in Earth's Future.

Hiren Jethva (614/MSU) was second author on Omar Torres' 2026 paper "A decade of global hourly aerosol observations from DSCOVER/EPIC using near-UV measurements" in Frontiers in Remote Sensing.

Fei Liu (610.1/ MSU) was second author on Siqi Ma's 2025 paper "Timely updates of anthropogenic emission with satellite and ground observations: Comparison of multiple top-down methods against bottom-up national emission inventories" published in J.G.R.-Atmospheres.

Feng Li (614/UMBC) and Sarah Strode (614/MSU) were the lead- and co-author of the 2025 publication "The Cold-Pole Bias Severely Weakens Southern Hemisphere Springtime Stratosphere-Troposphere Coupling" in Geophysical Research Letters.
